Another little tidbit to pass along in gratitude for all that I've learned from this site. Been working out a few of the minor repairs lately. This is a small one, a cheap one that I would have made sooner, I had assumed my cc didn't work because of a vacuum booster leak or something. I replaced my microswitches and now it works perfectly.
Things required:
soldering iron and solder
desoldering tool (if you're fancy, I just heated and pulled)
T-10 or 15
new micro switches get them from digikey:
p/n d2f-d and d2f (3$ for the switches 4$ for shipping)
So take off the cushion horn button part. Disconnect the wires. Disconnect the flat 8 pin connector that holds the baby wires that go to cc switches. T10 to take the buttons off.
Now take the switches and go somewhere where you won't lose things if they drop. The buttons are just wedged together, and inside theres a little spring and white spacer.
Pop the buttons apart, now it should look like this:
Now I used a voltmeter and checked for continuity during button presses. Mine failed. If you've got one handy, nows the time. Next, I slid the switches and wires out of their homes, be careful there are little plastic tabs holding them in place.
clip the wires to the on/off side, that one gets the d2f-d, solder the wires back on to the new switch. Bingo bango put it all back together. Mine takes over 35mph to engage but it works now and it cost me 8$.
