First Gen #s

1. I have been wondering, is there more first gens in specific parts of north America? did they sell better in some regions? in my part of the Pacific Northwest they are everywhere. I can usually see about 10 of them in one hour of driving around here most are 4x4's. We have a lot of farmers and contractors around here that have at least one in their driveways. I have met quite a few people that have more than one. I stopped asking people that own them if they were for sale because the answer is always no!

2. Were they all made in Mexico? like mine was. If not did they hold up better or worse than Canadian or USA models?

3. Was there something like 200,000 total of these made from 89 to 93?

There are very few left anywhere they use road salt. I've seen a lot of them in Hawaii, and more rural parts of the country. Judging by autotrader searches I've done, these trucks are most prevalent in the Pacific northwest, AZ/NV, CO, and CA. All clubcabs were made in Mexico, every standard cab I've owned has been made in the U.S.

Well here in Northern California I see quite a few when I am out and about.

Hey alborada what part of Oregon are you in? I grew up in Klamath Falls and I have seen a few of them running around up there also.

there's quite a few around here and they seem to be reasonably priced and sometimes plentiful on Portland and seattle Craigslist.

Mine isn't really very rusty so I guess I should consider myself fortunate. Mine has only been on the wet side of the mountains for three years.

In my area, western new york, I have only seen 4 other first gen cummins. One looks real solid but doesn't even go on the road, the guy just plows his driveway with it. Another one is sweet with an aluminum flatbed and skyjacker lift with 35's. Another I only saw once driving the other way and one was the black W350 I saw at a dealer which probably came from out of state. Cummins trucks aren't real common here. Powerjokes around here are like rats in a barn though.

There are quite a few down here in Florida. The oldtimers bought them to pull 5thwheels around years ago. Then they all moved here.

I must be one of the trucks he sees, but I'm not a farmer or a high school kid, just broke, so it looks like an old farm truck .

I see more here than in any metro area.

seems to me that all the guys who bought these trucks brand new mostly still own them, or have only recently sold them due to lack of desire to fix all the small things that go wrong on a 15 year old truck (i.e. cowl cracks/rust problems, drivetrain etc.) Everytime I see one of these trucks, I can't help but think, "good choice." lol, theres my lame thought.

That sounds about right. I have a '93 sales brochure that claims 125,000 satisfied customers.
