It's the turbo compressor surging. A compressor upgrade kit will fix it.

A compressor upgrade kit will stop the surging. HTT and GDS both sell them.

If you can afford it, a bigger turbo would be a better choice. POD's and a turned up pump are a little more fuel than a hybrid can keep cool.

The turbo doesn't even have to come off the truck, you just pull the intake hose and drop the downpipe. As long as there is no discernable endplay in the shaft and you can't make the wheel hit the housing there's no need for a rebuild.

I used the GDS, about 1/2 the price of the HTT. VERY easy to do, just make sure you have an INCH pounds torque wrench ava. It is a great next step before a new bigger Turbo.

OH YEAH! you go up to a 4" inlet as well. Either get a 2nd gen hose, or a custom intake. Lots of different ways to go there.
