Finally drove truck empty 19.24mpg

I finally got my suspension softened up enough to try a road trip empty. First highway driving empty since I got the truck (20,000 miles ago) Drove about 240 miles about 80 percent highway 60-70 mph as traffic would allow, ac on and got 19.24mpg. I thought it was pretty good but have to confess I had hoped to break 20. Guess than means I've got things set pretty well. Finally finished painting it too. Stock kinda greenis/bluish metallic color. Emerald green I think they call it. Paint was starting to peel all over and hood and roof were starting to get small rusts pits. Took a long time to strip it to metal, treat the metal, epoxy prime, fill prime and them paint. Still have to finish polish it but its looking pretty good. I'll have to wash it and get a pic up. Now if I can find a new drivers seat frame I can re install the seat and everything will match. By the way my tach shows 2050 rpm at 70 with 3.54 gears and 265 75 r 16 tires. Is that about right or does my tach need a little tweaking.

I wouldn't be disappointed with 19+ for a 4WD. I haven't taken mine on an empty freeway trip in quite a while, but I only got around 22 MPG *at best* with my 2WD. I normally average 17-18 MPG around town, which is where mine is driven most of the time.

That sounds about right to me. I have the same size tires and ratio.

I just finished my third fill up after tweaking the pump, 16cm housing, 3200 spring, and grinding the foot (thanks Dave and Dave) and I average 20.37mpg I was hoping for a little more but I can't complain. This is driving 85% hiway at near ludicrus speed for most of it. The next fill up I get I'm going to try doing the "limit" posted wish me luck

Doing the limit will make a good difference...but it's no fun.
Mileage goes up and smileage goes down!!!
I can get 24 daily and 26 on a trip if I drive sanely.
Daily I get 21/23 but I'm at 70/75 a lot. (ok 80)
Oh well.

Will performance injectors get better fuel mileage than stock ones?

They will get the same or better...
Mileage is MORE dependant on the angle of your right foot!!!

Michael - Wow! 20.3 mpg? Is that worse than before?

DJ- I think you're doing well. My truck, even stock, never did better than mid 18's on the highway at 70.

Jay's comments about injectors do not apply to POD's - at least in town. I lost 2 mpg in town when I put in the POD's, highway is the same as always.

Your mileage sounds good to me too. I get 18 driving 70-75 mph and if I can slow down for most of a tank to 65 I can get 20 mpg. When fuel hit $2.50 / gal, I had more incentive to slow down.

The stock intake hose doesn't like to stay connected to a BHAF. If you bark the turbo the hose blows off. Sometimes it just falls off for no reason. That's why I put together the setup that's on my truck.
