Did you clean the mud dauber's nest out of the fuel line before you hooked it back up?

1. Leaks somewhere, you found the problem.
2. No leaks.... disconnect the line at the lift pump inlet and stick it into a bottle. Air the tank again. Does fuel flow?
a. Yes..... lift pump bad.
b. No, fuel line plugged.

I'm assuming you have battery at the FSS, and that the FSS is good.

Theoretically, the vane pump in the IP would pump enough fuel to run, however, when a lift pump is bad, the check valves in it are still restricting the fuel flow, and if there's the smallest leak, it'll allow enough air in to kill prime.

There's a lever on the lift pump, used for bleeding. If you bleed the system, then crank the engine while operating that lever, it should start. If it doesn't, then something else is wrong, IP or timing.

Do you feel any resistance while pushing the priming lever?

For giggles did you turn the engine over at all since using the priming lever? ( Could it still be on the pump lobe of the cam? )

How much of an injection pulse are you seeing? With the injector lines loose it should be spraying all over the underside of the truck. If it's not then there might be internal IP issues.

If you've got a good strong injection pulse, then it's either timing, or perhaps the motor is not spinning fast enough?

Double check that the woodruff key did not come out when installing the IP.

are you feathering the throttle while starting? turn up the fuel screw possibly if you've messed with it before the rebuild... OR, like thrashing cows said about the woodruff key. pull the oil filler tube mark the shaft bolt and gear and start turning to see if shaft is slipping. If its not slipping then turn up the screw or adjust idle and or your throttle position is off. Hope this helps. I just went through my pump and had a few hiccups.
