factory non cummins diesel dodge

a local scrap dealing buddy of mine has picked up a 1979 dodge 100 with an inline 6 mitsubishi motor. i did some research on the and the were something like 105 hp at 3500rpm and 169ft pounds at 2200rpm. are these rare? the bodys pretty rough on it but im pretty sure it runs.

They had lots of issues, head gaskets etc. It was the dodge diesel we can forget about.

Seen a few for sale around here on CL. They had factory hydro assist brakes I think.

Even with a limited supply and next to no demand currently, not very much.
The only thing I personally would want on for would be the hydroboost braking parts. Other than that I just see it as "crusher fodder"

The one I saw for sale was $1000 and it was listed for a LONG time. It was running and moving, but not road worthy.

Rare does not equal valuable. They are rare because nobody wanted to buy them. Nobody wanted to buy them because they made the slant 6 trucks look peppy.

They also made a D50 with a 4 cylinder diesel Mitsibishi motor in the 80's. They weren't bad trucks, a little less power than a gas 4 banger but they got excellent mileage, around 30-35mpg for the one I owned.

the little "Mighty Max"? I heard they wern't bad. I've heard mileage numbers into the high 40's when careful. The Mitsu trucks had them to, 2.3l if I remember correct?

Hey wannadiesel don't buzz on the slant 6 lol. I had an old pickup with a slant 6 and it would churn n burn with noooo fuel mileage. Sold the engine to a guy who did alot of hotrod engine work and made himself a 12 second Plymouth Valent sleeper. He hurt alot of Mustang guys and Cmerao guys feelings when he smoked em with a slant 6 lol.

There was one at the Portland Swap meet on Friday. It was a 78. I almost took a picture. Now I wish I had. Maybe its still there. One more day left.
