extened cab sleep platform
extened cab sleep platform
I have the bench seat and have spent more than one night on it with surprising comfort but I decided to try doing something with the otherwise junk storage area behind the seat. I couldn't find my camera while I was building it and don't really like to stop and take random pictures anyway. I started this with the intention of it being very simple to slide in and keep the jump seats functional and if your shorter than me that should be very possible but at 6'2" I had to remove the back rests for more stretching room. Basically all I did was cut a piece of plywood to fit behind the front seat and then put some supports under the plywood finishing off with padding and carpet on top. I haven't slept on it yet but will be this weekend. It's roughly 24X78 which is tight but I'm not what most people would consider small and I fit.

Although not D.O.T. legal so far as a proper log-book sleeper is concerned, that looks like a much better bed than sleeping on the seat.
I suggest adding an air-mattress.
The platform would be very handy even if you never slept on it.
I have TEE-TRACK curtains in the cab of my Ford that hang in the corners behind the seats; when I wish for privacy, I can slide the curtains along the TEE-TRACK, thus covering the windows all around.
These curtains are thick, so it also makes it dark as Mammoth Cave inside the cab.
Lacking a proper TEE-TRACK, one could accomplish the same thing by attaching some fairly strong magnets to some curtains.

my 93 Ford had a small bench that would fold down and make a perfect flat surface in back. I put a pad on it and slept in it before... not bad! I should of yanked that seat and put it in the Dodge before I sold it. It was about the same room back there, but more comfortable than the jump seats plus they floded flat for a good surface like you made.
I read somehwere that they do fit in back of our trucks, but maybe they don't fold down right....

I'm kind of liking that it makes the truck seem cleaner inside. All my straps and tools that I've always carried are out of sight. I can honestly only think of one time that anyone has sat in one of the jump seats so that's not a big deal.
