eng vibration
Last night as I came to a stop light I got a vibration, I put the trans in N and the vibration seem to be less but still there, it would change slightly with a little more RPM. After the light tured green I put it back in gear and took off it all seem to stop and did not happen at next light. Could this be a flex plate or a torque convertor prob
When my flex plate went I got a knocking/vibrating feeling in the floorboard. pull your inspection cover on the bell housing and look for metalic grindings or shavings. you can also gently pry the plate back and forth and see if theres a bunch of movement. Hard to diagnosis vibes with out being there but its a start.
Sounds like the flex plate as well. You may want to go ahead and check your engine mounts as well. As apache said, check for any metallic shavings, chips etc in the bell housing. It is also good business to check for any cracks in the flex plate. They usually extend from the plate bolts and out. Usually a good light and a mirror can detect any cracks.
If you find that your flex plate is cracked, get the flex plate for the 95 and up models. It is a higher strength plate that is less prone to failure. The part number for the plate can be found in the tech facts section of this site.
