Electrical Problem

Last night driving home my lights and guages were fluttering a little and this morning going to work all my lights, guages, windows, overdrive, everything electrical except the starter and evidently the fuel solenoid stopped working. Where is a good place to start looking for this problem?

Is your battery drained then? If so, sounds like it's the charging system.

No change in the battery, it starts the engine easily. Occasionally the guages come on and overdrive kicks in but doesn't stay on long. Acts like a loose connection in an area that affects the whole system.

Were the headlights randomly flickering with the road vibrations or flickering like an arcing connection?
I would start with the fuse links.
A connection that would cause flickering would also be producing some heat.
If you know how I would also be checking voltage drop between battery cables, battery/ alternator and fuse links.

Charging system and OD simultaneous intermittent failure is usually a CPS problem. Check the gap (.050") and also check the connectors. Clean (with contact cleaner, or WD40) and reseat connectors, starting with the 3 pin connector at the top front of the engine, then the 10 pin connector under the intake manifold near the rear of the engine. (try, then test each one, don't fix it if it ain't broke)

Closely inspect the harness near the CPS. If it is frayed, replace the CPS.

What's happening is that both functions are controlled by the PCM, which withholds said control till it knows the engine is running. (CPS)

hope it helps
