Question Elec fan conversion?

Is anybody running an electric fan conversion on a 1st gen? If so is it on automaticly all the time or do you have the option of a toggle switch, for winter driving perhaps? Any pics? What brand? Is it worth it? Clutch vs elec?

I don't have one on my truck, but I have installed them on other vehicles in the past. My favorite way to wire it, is hot all the time. I have bought temp sensors that came with a metal probe to be installed inbetween the fins of the radiator, but I wasn't impressed with the operation of it.

I have used toggle switches, but then what if someone else is driving your truck?? or you just forget to turn the thing on...

I have one on my truck. I gained 2 MPG and lost the fan power drain and noise. I installed mine on a new radiator, but I'm not having cooling issues at all, even into the 90's. I'm never going back.

Mark, did you go with a double fan unit or a single? What brand if a double and how well did it fit?

I just slapped on an old Hayden 16" Pancake fan that I have had for years, attached it with UV resistant wire ties with hot water pipe insulation cut into squares in the mounting pads to protect the radiator. Right now I have the fan in the upper left corner of the radiator so it's out of the way of the fan hub. This seems to cool just fine, but I suspect it might not be enough on a dirty radiator. I will get a double at some point if I need to, but I'll never go back (lord willin')

i have two 14" fan in front of my radiator and still have the clutch fan too
i wired the ele fans to a pressure switch to my a\c so when ever the high side of a\c gets to what ever you set it at they come on but im using mine to move air across condensor coil so when im in traffic my a\c still blows cold and also runs engine cooler

Can somebody give a round about number on how many CFM is needed for this. I'm thinking just everyday driving and some light towing.

You must not have an intercooler, or you are running sans grill. On my truck there is absolutly zero room for fans in the front. I like the idea of the pressure switch in the A/C.
