Easy question.......
O.K. guys I am looking at another truck ( I seem to be doing that a lot lately) The trucks is a 93 1-ton 4x4. Looks like a great truck. Has ALCOA rims and new tires. My question is The engine has 211000 mi on it bone stock. The kicker is it has its third trans in it with less than 100 miles. It never did any pulling other that a few four wheelers, just the second trans was defective. Do you think I should be worrying about the high miles on the Engine? It will be a daily driver, Maybe a few pulls over the summer and a bit of drag racing. Add to that if I put on stacks, cut air box, tweek fuel pump, and enjectors what do you think i could get Hp/ 1/4 mile time?
I don't think those miles are anything to worry about except for the usually stuff maybe injection pump could got soon if it wasn't being lubes and so on but i think the ip pump is the worst case scenario for those miles until it gets a fair bit more. no clue about hp and 1/4 times but if you wanted to turn the motor up a fair bit your gonna need to beef that stock tranny up.
RedLeg what do you mean? Is that something I should look into. He did say he has an aftermarket Trans cooler, I guess the line would be replaced when he did that. Oh and this trans has 6000 miles left on the original warranty.
BTW almost forgot. The downpipe is origenal and needs replaced, how much is that going to run me? Going to use this as a good reason to add some 6' stacks!
Might as well let y'all get a good look at it:

I'd wonder about whether the cooler, lines and heat exchanger were replaced to prevent plugging the new transmission filters with crud
Yeah, I wouldn't doubt thats what the after market trans cooler was suggested for.The miles are not a problem, just broken in good. The IP and injectors are probably the weak point at this time. About 200k the IP is usually needing a little refresh on parts and about every 100k for pop point on the injectors. If the price is right it sounds like a good project to start BOMBing and enjoying.
nice truck
thats a verey well ceared for truck, and it looks good. i seen it on e-bay. i am looking to get another truck for the wife.she dont like her blazer any more. i was going to through a bid down on it, but she says she wants somthing with less miles! ya i know. my truck was bought with 200,000 on the clock, and has close to 270,000 now, and i just drove it from washington state, to florida, with an overal 21mpg and a total of 3500 miles. and it want all freeway, about 60% was.
i would ****** that truck up. i would love to have it. but the wife wants a 2nd gen, other wise its a new diesel liberty. already have a 79 cj7!
like was said before IP, and injectors. but if the truck was taken cear of, you will be good. when i got my truck i got the injectors tested, they were fine. they are stock ones, but they could have been replaced!
point being. buy it if you like it! my brother bought an 05 cummins, and would rather have mine. cant beet a sharp lookin 1st gen!

Ya I like it, but I am just looking for something to push me over the fence. If I have to replace the IP pump that would kill my BOMB money, only one I can find is $1400 with a $800 core charge. I have looked and almost bought trucks with more miles so I guess 211k is ok. If I have to wrentch on it every weekend I might have to pass. This will be my only mode of transportation so it needs to be reliable. Small electric probs. are ok, but tearing through the engine every weekd isn't too much fun. Also need to find a good place to find First gen parts.
i dout you will be tearing into the motor every weekend, unless you want to!
if i were to buy it, i wouldnt think twice about driving it to florida. they are real reliable every day drivers!
its just like any thing elese with age and miles on it, somthing will go, u just dont know when. i had a 86 chevy with a 6.2 diesel in it and an ATS turbo kit on it. 6" lift and 35" tires. drove that truck every wear. 1000 mile round trips twice a month, and the other tow weekends about 500 miles. it had a 170,000 miles on it! it was a runnin fool! but the kid that bought blew the motor after 3 weeks. ( wasnt watchit the EGT's ). if i was to have that truck today, it would still be going.
it all comes down to how its taken cear of. regardless of the miles!
my truck is my daily driver. its only left me once on the side of the road. the voltage regulator went, because of a bad alternator, and spiked my system and blew the battery apart. blew every bulb on the struck and melted the plastic on the back of the speedo.
if i had to i would get in her and drive back to washington, with out thinkin!
and another thing. gurls love the 1st gens! like this hillbilly said to me at a truck stop once, " thats a sharp truck, i bet it's a pu$$y gettin SOB "
dont wory about having to fix things. you will have to at some point no matter what you buy!
Bob.

Bob.
I can take a break down evey once in a while ( I am stranded at school because my 97 blazer won't start!) I have driven some crapy trucks so this is an upgrade. The longest trip I would make would be driving it home, other than that maybe 150 miles tops. I do drive safely so i will put on a set guages to monitor things, plus i never drive more than 10 over the speed limit. That IP still scares me though.
Well I guess I would have to fix something on any truck i buy. So do you guys think I am getting a good deal or should i wait for another one. It will most likely get it for 7100. 211k miles is a bunch but how often do trucks like this come along.
Underpsi is right, chances are the ip is rebuildable. Mine was at that milage. Cost me $740 to rebuild it when one of the big springs inside broke. Bought my grey 93 with 207,000 miles for 7250. 253k now.

, $7100 yeah right, up to 7900 now. Might end around 8500 I bet. You're gonna wrench the same amount on a $10k 1st gen as you will on a $1500 1st gen. Nice but keep looking. Buy one locally or through DTR and TDR before you buy from ebay. You'll get a better deal.
