Dumb Question about Block Heater
Dumb Question about Block Heater
Ok folks, don't kill me over this, but after searching the forum I have determined that the block heater was a standard option on all diesels. Problem is, I cannot locate anything that remotely resembles a block heater, or even plug or torn-away wire for that matter. Can someone please tell me where this is physically located on the engine, and if my research was in vain and there could have been some diesels without this option?
Thanks!

Look at the side of the block under the oil filter. It would have mounted right into the water jacket through a freeze hole. You may just need to attach a new cord, otherwise by one after market and remove the freezeplug and add it on.
On the passenger side near the jack-handle storage, I have a cable with a cover over the end. If you find that and remove the cover, you'll find the plug for the block heater. Follow the cable to the actual heater.
