I can finally say that I'm only a week away from having a 10ft. bed! After quite some time and starting a new job in April, I cut 3ft off the front of the donor bed today. Next Sunday will be the majority of the work, cutting the nose of the bed off of the dually bed and welding the 3ft section in place. It's getting close and I'm excited! After this, all that's left is some body work and paint. I know it will need body work but my goal is to keep it to a minimum to keep the cost as low as possible. On another note, I've got a VE pump up in Canada in the hands of Giles Gallie who is going to turn it into a fire-breathing, custom pump putting out as many cc's of fuel as a 12mm can. I don't know just how many cc's but most pumps he works on can nearly double the factory specs. I should have that back in a couple of weeks. Then I'll need to find a lot of replacement tires and way to stop smiling!

This post is worthless without pictures, I know.

It's been Frankenstein'd!!! It now has a 10.3ft bed. Just have a few more welds to put down on the bed floor then come back and grind all the welds smooth and throw some primer at it.

Got some grinding and painting done today. After grinding the welds somewhat smooth, I laid down 2 coats of cold galvanized paint followed by 2 coats of primer. I've got some spot welds to repair in the bed floor where the crossmembers are attached to it. I think a wire wheel would work well to remove paint around the areas. You'll see what I'm talking about in the following pictures.

2 tanks?! Just kidding! The relief in the inside of the bed near the floor will get cut out and a piece from the donor bed welded in its place. The same goes for the door on the outside. A piece cut from the donor bed will replace it.
