i want to convert my single rear wheel 2500 to dually...i have read a few other threads here with respect to this...i have the opportunity to purchase and entire rear dually assembly from an f450 including rear disc brakes..it has an dana 80....can anyone tell me if this would go on the dodge relatively easily?? or is there too much modding to bother thx..vs

don't see why it wouldn't work. the only mods should spring perch location and gear ratio i think. the e-brake should hook up ok i would think. you will need to cutout the wheel wells and add the dually fenders (pita) and extend the fuel filler neck (wrecking yard). or find a dually take off bed assy. and paint it. save the cutting of your current one. then resale your current bed assy to recoup some of the money spent. good luck.

I installed a frame cut F450 onto my W350. The E-brake on the 450 was on the end of the tranny. So something is going to have to be done there. The spring perches are probably different. You might need to do something with your driveshaft.

For my e-brake I ended up fabricating mounts on the rear end for Porsche calipers that go on my rear disks. They are controlled by a hyd hand pump in the cab. Works great.

It was a lot of work and the fuel mileage has gone down a bit now due to 50% more tires on the road.

thx for the info

thx guys... yes i sort of expected the spring perches to be different....but the info on the brake is good too know...i am not too worried about the box as i am going flat deck (carry large round hay bales)...and the fuel mileage...well...i guess everytime we do something...it affects that....i am hoping with some basic engine/exhaust mods...i can mitigate it somewhat...i really would like the rear discs...as i pull stock trailer with heavy loads sometimes...vs
