Dua battery

I was just wondering. Would it make any difference to mount and wire up to 2 batteries like on the second gens? Or would that be to much trouble for what it's worth

Where it can get good and cold (like here) it will give you more cranking power. That being said I still just run one battery, but when its cold I almost always use the block heater.

Without the block heater I have started her down to about 15*F. She was not happy, but started.

In Texas I think one battery should be fine.

JP.

If you'll read Jim Lanes, articles on multiple battery I think you will find it very enlightening. There are many threads on dual batteries that people have them seem to love them and the people that don't seem happy with just one. My take is a depends on your driving habits. If you run a big stereo or leave the headlights on a lot it might be a good thing. They only downside that I see is the extra connection. But do a search on dual batteries should turn up something. I just search "dual batteries" and came up with 12 hits. Just my two cents, Mike.

I am convinced that I do not need my glow plugs.

Max starts up everytime no matter how cold it is and without a block heater.

Of course, I cycle the glow plugs when it gets below 20 degrees!

I plan on doing a dual battery set-up. I want it so that i can install a couple of subs in my truck and not drain my batteries

Southeast Virginia isn't noted for it's extreme low temps like you guys in the north. When I got my truck back in 2005 it came with a new Battery Barn in house battery called the Bulldozer Series. The label is washed off but I believe it is 1250CCA group 31 with the standard automotive style posts and maintenace free. I have run this battery down to less than 10 volts(truck wouldn't turn over) doing stupid stuff about five or six times. I currently am running Rotella T 30 weight HD oil. It starts everytime (even when it is below freezing) if I don't get stupid and leave the ignition on overnight. As of today, it is the same battery that Dieseldude4x4 put in it before I got it. The sale date was in 2004. With that in mind I don't see dual batteries in my future. However, the next battery will have threaded posts.
