I ran the 50 wt gear oil for a long time, thats when I would run cross country never shutting the truck down, the synthetic gear lube poured really well, didnt have lube problems at all. In the winter when cold the 50 wt made the tranny shift a bit tougher when cold, but 15 minutes of driving it was good, but I swap to 5-30 anyway.

I get a Shure Flow pump (1.5-2.0 gl/min) with a chemical diaphram and highest heat rating, a decent sized tranny cooler and a 900 cfm electric fan. I mounted some brackets between the frame and the body underneath and stuck in a p[iece of expanded metal to block larger debris. Tap into the PTO cover at the top and the bottom. The bottom fitting goes into the cooler then put the pump on the discharge side of the cooler so the fluid is cooled as it enters the pump, this will extend pump life. Then back into the trans though the top fitting, in fact is squirst on the top gearset.

I have mine set up with a ground type relay so it come on at 170 and off at 150 and a gauge on the dash just for my peace of mind.

Mopar2ya, what shurflo pump did you use and where did you get it? I've been looking for a better pump to use with the filter on mine, but the mocal and tilton pumps are terribly expensive.

I haven't done this myself, but I might try it.

How about replacing the top and bottom PTO bolts with elbow fittings like these? or something else used to conntect hoses.

http://www.adsens.net/App/products.asp?cid=3

and running a clear tube between the fittings.

Gravity should "fill the tube" same height as the tranny level.

The tubing and fittings would have to be heat resistant and your fitting secure or else you could actually cause a low fluid problem due to a blowout.

when they do it on transfer cases they just use brass elbow fittings. A 205 has standard thread holes though. Might be harder to find metric ones for the getrag.

Go to advance adapters and look at the atlas transfercases, they come with an option like this.

I'll get my buddy to snap some photos a post them. I got my pump from a place in Florida andonce from a farm supply store called Orschlins, but they quit carrying Shur-Flo so I hit the net and got one, seems like it was like 50.00 or so.

I wasn't recommending a particular brand. I was just google searching images of elbow fittings.

Once again, I have not done this. it is just an idea that I made up in 5 minutes.

Just read this and found this pic. Maybe I should be an inventor.
