Driving with VR disconected
The VR (voltage regulator) in my 91.5 is over charging to the tune of 15.8-16.2V. Until I can fix the problem will it do damage to the alternator to drive the truck with the VR disconnected, and/or should I also disconnect the 12V going to the alternator?

Are you going by the instrument cluster voltage gauge, or by an accurate volt meter? You can't trust the accuracy of the instrument cluster gauge.
Clean your alternator and regulator grounds.

Thanks jtamulonis.
cougar: thanks but I have done my due diligence on diagnosing the problem. This will be the 3rd VR, i'm going with a IN8315 conversion this time

Buy a MOPAR VR or buy three auto parts ones if you expect one of them to work longer than it takes to install it.

I have to agree with you and Oliver, after market VR tend to be crap. The last VR I bought came from NAPA, lasted a year.
If I haden't already bought the Conversion regulator I'd be on it. And if I hadn't put in a digital volt gauge I wouldn't have noticed
the difference between 14v and 16v on the analog Dodge volt gauge.
