Hey Grandma, power shifting means " DON'T LET OFF THE GAS WHEN SHIFTING".[laugh] Anyway crossy boy, I'm glad your on the road. Its a great feeling to have your license. Just be a good boy so you don't have to go back to walking.[verymad] I had enough complaints get back to the old man without taping myself messing around.[coffee]

I thought that was flat shifting...or are they the same thing?
Should have just said Banged, not "powershifted" that sounds too official. |
I'm sure everyone has there own term. Just like yanking your chain. I drove one of mine for the first time in a 2 or 3 months. I have the 92 road legal this winter, but its been a bad winter and the salt has been put down 3 or more times a week all winter. I drove it on a dry section about a mile each way then came home. I won't even get my beater 92 in the salt.

Just a suggestion for ya, after ya shift, get your hand off the lever. Video was cool

There isn't one single thing about a manual trans that would make me jealous over an auto! Manuals are for sports cars and semis.it's way to hard for me to shift gears while eating a Big Mac and trying to text.

LOL i just hate the slushiness and the feeling of not getting all your torque to the wheels.

I don't miss the manual days at all. Below 3 or 400 hp the manual is good. Above that the auto is the way to go.

Ack. You should be able to synchronize your shifts a bit better.
When I had my old 4x4 93, me and a Ford lined up on a back road. 2nd gear launch, no throttle. He got the jump on me. I burned out through 2nd, got into 3rd, squealed through 3rd, chirped going into 4th, got along side of him, and slid into 5th. In fact, something to think about I noticed when I shifted fast. 5th gear is so close on a 4:10 truck, no matter how fast I shifted, 5th would be ready for me to let the clutch out. I then figured something out. When you let up on the gas pedal (before hitting the clutch), you temporarily relieve the stress on the gear and it can, with light pressure, pop into neutral. Now when you do that, all the gears are spinning as fast as the engine. In 1 fluid motion (if you can't get from 4lo-4hi without grinding, forget this), slide it up into 5th. Speeds should be matched at this point. Anyways, I slid into 5th and slingshot right past the poor Ford owner. He wasn't too happy. [guitar] |

I do miss the power that is soaked up going thru the slush box though. I can really tell when I would drive my dads '92 with a getrag.
