Driver side drop
Driver side drop
I'am converting my D series to a W, and found a great deal on a Dana 60 kinng pin driver side drop. Wondering if anyone has swapped one of these before and if there where any issues ?
If it is a high pinion 60, it will be the reverse cut gear. There were a few early ford 60s that were low pinion, iirc. What did the 60 come from? 94-02 Dodges and 92-? Fords were the ball joint knuckle variety. Dodges also were the crappy vacuum disconnect system and unit bearings. I believe Fords went to unit bearings in 97ish? I am putting a 78 HP 60 from a Ford truck under my conversion. I will use the divorced-driver's side drop 205 from the same era. All I need to find now is the 2wd 5 speed to put between it and the engine. You will also need a way to mount the t case shifters on the driver's side of the transmission or fab some brackets to do so.
Copy that ! It is a hp from a ford already converted to manual hubs, just picked it up tonight. Heading in to pick and pull in the am for a transfer case from a 03 dodge 3500, then going to refurbish the axle then its go time ! Hoping to have it done by end of October. I will indeed take pictures and notes.
