Driveability

I recently swapped out my 190's for swome POD's. Thetruck certainly runs better, but I'm having some driveabiloity issues. If i run it hard and high in the rpms it does fine. However, if I lug it in fifth and stand on it I have a turbo issue. It will build to about 20psi then the boost pressure will start surging until it climbs over 30 -35 psi. I thought Imay have a fuel issue, so I installed a piston lift pump and I still have the issue. I'm thinking my turbo may be the issue. If so, does anyone have any suggestions on an affordable upgade? Thanks.

Crank your star wheel up, your smoke screw up, and your fuel screw out.

"smokinblacky" is right on. I did the same as you "blue" and followed "Blacky's" lead with the HE351cw.

Thanks for the help. What year of truck can I find that turbo on? Is the mounting flange and oil supply and drain the same? What did you do for a downpipe? I'd like to know what all i need to acquire. Also, would my turbo be any good for my 94 truck?

Search HE351 and you'll find all sorts of info, They came on the 04.5-07 dodges. Oil lines will match up fine, you'll need a 4" flange for downpipe, yes it would work good on any year truck I think, it would be a good upgrade for a 94.

I've been looking for and HE351CW and they seem to be in hghly sought after. Would the be a good substitute? HX40W or S300. As far as size I'd prefer a 60mm, but how would a 56mm do? I've found a 60mm HX40W with a 16cm3 housing. Yay or nay?

HX40's cannot take abuse of quick throttle let off when under ful boost. Snapped shafts. So if you can slowly (slower than just letting off in a second) let out of the go pedal, then it will be fine.

S300 based turbos are the cats meow but a little spendy for one built for a truck. Once you have one though, it can handle a lot more abuse than a HX40.
