Does vin # tell about truck? I've got it! whats a D or W mean?
Test drove the banks 91 2x4 today. Got the vin #. Was wondering if it tells about the reareng gearing. This truck has a gear vendor and it has a slight vibration under power. Not bad, but just something to discuss. This truck gets 15 mpg and I think that it might have 4:10 rearend. has 148000 on it and drives and handles nice. Things to fix are a oil leak somewhere under the vaccumn pump, headliner, banks tach pickup and misc. thanks

I do not believe that the vin will tell you the gear ratio however if you look at the rear there should be a metal tag attached to one of the cover bolts this will have a number on it, that is the ratio ex. 3.07, 3.55, 4.10. I have a 89 "W" (4x4)350 diesel with a 3.07 tag on the rear and I also have a 89 "D" (2x4)250 gasser with a 4.10 tag on it.
