Does anyone have non-Ford alcoas?

I have a set of Ford Alcoas that I'm wanting to run Alcoa center caps on. I had to have the centers machined out a bit. And I'm wondering what the width of the chamfer on the inside of the wheel center is to allow clearance for the o-ring that comes with the Alcoa center caps.

I thought about running the blank hubcaps that you can get. But I like the look of the Alcoa center caps better. They don't stick out as far. And, I'll admit, I like that they have an Alcoa badge on them.

I just happened to have couple of those Alcoa caps sitting on the shelf and it looks like 5 5/16" is the number you're looking for.

Thanks Ace. I guess I don't understand that number. I have an Alcoe center cap. It has an o-ring next to the little flange on the inner edge. There needs to be some sort of chamfer machined on the inside of the wheel to allow for the o-ring and flange to sit on securely. I was wondering what the width of that chamfer should be. When I had the ID machined on the wheel to match the Alcoa center caps I have, I had them make the chamfer 1/4" wide at 45*. That wasn't enough. I had them do 1/4" because I have a set of Alcoas on my Grand Cherokee and that is how wide the chamfer is on them. But they have a much smaller cap.

Sorry, I thought you hadn't even done the machining yet. It looks to me like the diameter of the hole would be 5 5/16" with maybe a very small chamfer to allow for the o-ring. What diameter hole did they do? Does the cap goes all the way in flush without the o-ring? If so, you can't be off by much.

I'm not sure what the actual diameter is. The cap fits in nicely (although they did do a crappy job...it's rough, needs smoothing, and marks up the cap as you slide it through if you're not careful). I haven't tried it without the o-ring. Good suggestion. The chamfer that's there now is 1/8" wide.

I think the hole is too small if the cap doesn't slide right in easily.

Well, I'm going to have clean up the machining. I have an old (like ancient) drum brake lather that I think I can modify to hold the rim so that I can clean up and smooth out the crappy machining the was done. After that, I think the cap will slide in real smooth.
