Do You Really Need The Nylon Washer?

I read somewhere about shaving the nylon washer down under diaphram to allow the fuel pin to travel further. Do you really even need the washer in there or can you just take it out?

You can take it out, it won't hurt anything but sometime it'll defuel a little bit when it gets to the top of the pin... how it kinda curves back up at the very top of the ramp.

you can try it though, run it without and see if you can feel it drop off. if it doesn't, then don't run it

I replaced my nylon washer with an o-ring, it is easier to gauge the thickness and it is a cushion if the pin hits too hard, My turbo will hit 56 PSI boost.

sand it down to 1/2 thickness or less.put it in with some grease on it,push throttle lever so pin pops out and rides on the cone ,push it down to mark it the see were it rides on the cone. ive seen 2 pumps were the washer was removed and the pin woul hit the main part of the cone and defuel slightly and bind a little. i think the down pressure caused the oring to leak around the pin. i like to sand it down to point of max fuel.

I did basically the same thing crewcabxlt but kept sanding it down till half or better was gone. Then I removed it and still not to the defueling point or to the point where the pin starts to curve back the other way and binding. As I learn more about the VE i'll leave it at that point and place it seems to work good there.

i just turned my pin, and when i did i noticed how much of it was going to wast because of the washer. i sanded lots of it off and the new "mark" from the pin is much longer, although i could still go more so i will prob take mine out too.

just take it out, I took mine out and got more top end because the fuel pin could travel down farther. Just take it out and if you need to go back, then put it back in.

I think ill just take it out and see what happens. Does it make a pretty noticeable difference? I already have the pin set to the deep side.

14racing I don't think I noticed much difference if any. It might be some difference on topend but I don't run up there much. The difference might come in when you smash the skinny pedal and the boost goes way up but on my 92 with the slushbox trans I can't tell if I gained anything. As mine stands now the fuel pin could go down another .080/.090 before getting in a bind.
