I dunno but I'm thinking maybe getting into the used Cummins parts business like Oliver. I'm sure he has one for a reasonable price.

you can try car-part.com....but most will probably not want to part out the dipstick from a complete motor. E-bay and other on-line sources would probably be the best way to find one. Sure they used the same dipstick from 89-02-ish....????

1 min search on E-bay netted me this one....used - &70 from a 93 motor. (FYI - E-bay links not allowed on the board....just copy and paste....;) )

I built one on the 4bt engine I'm redoing. It was from a stainless steel brake line, I was able to get the rubber grommet from the local marine shop. Tig welded a washer around it and left enough to press into the grommet.

I didn't have the size... it was a lot of work making sure the dip stick to oil level was right. Just made sure oil was above the pickup tube so that was low oil and high oil was over the tube but under the oil pan seal. I think they wanted $180 for the 4bt engine and I spent probably $30.

When I bought my 91.5 the dipstick tube was broken at the block I got a new one from Cummins I can't see a new tube being that much money.

You could always change it over to the second gen sty;e, not discontinued, and much cheaper, like 70 bucks new for both parts. Much cheaper still used on fleabay.

Second gen number for tube is 04761975 and stick is 04883345

First gen is 4429800 for tube and 4429117 for stick.

Sure, don't cut it off... just remove the one bolt (or two if the did the midway) and pull the tube out. Some of them are plastic so good luck with those. The oil seems to make them very brittle.
