Death Wobble again!!

About a month ago I experianced my 1st ever death wobble. I replaced the kingpins/bushings /bearings etc and tie rod ends. Everything was good for a few weeks and then it happened again today, now I'm stumped. Steering box is tight and tight to the frame, pitman arm tight, wheelbearings tight, drag link tight, frame not cracked, good borgeson shaft, front leaves sagging, less than 1 year old monroe magnum shocks which I pulled off ans when I collapsed and extended them there was about an inch of movement before there was any resistance. Could this be my problem. ANY suggestions will be very much appriciated, thanks in advance. Kevin

I had one on but took it off when I did the tie rod ends, the oil had leaked out a long time ago so it was doing nothing. It was an aftermarket so I figured I should be able to fix this problem without having one on there. Wouldn't putting one on before finding the problem be like putting a band aid on? Not being a wise edit just don't know. Thanks for the response.

How did the springs on the top of the kingpins under the caps look ive had them collapse or break before. The other thing is the brake rotors need turned or your caliper is draging. Good luck.

The springs appeared good but got replaced, the only wear I saw in the kingpin setup was that there were little pockets worn in the inside of the plastic bushing and one upper pin was pitted so I replaced everything on both sides. No pulsing on the brakes so I believe the rotors are OK I'll check for a dragging brake, I never thought of that, thanks for the suggestion.

you are correct it will only hide or mask the real issue you need to fix ... try switching the tires front to back or side to side be amazed at what one bad egg shaped tire and rim will do at certain speeds ... and seeing as you have gone over everthing else ... get a friend to work the wheel back and forth and look a one component at a time it can take a while but something must be able to "walk" a bit or you wouldn't be going thru this ..

good luck

As has been just talked about on here, go back into the front end and check/replace the front axle ujoints. Look for "Weird Steering problem". I had the same problem and talked about it earlier this fall.

I checked the ujoints when I was doing the kingpins and they were good, no play at all. I have not replaced the draglink, it appears good and tight but it might be worth a try. Thanks.
