Dead pedal/runaway throttle 2001 2500 6 speed manual

I have a 2001 6 speed manual 2500 with a dead pedal/runaway throttle, it changes randomly and sometimes will almost redline without me touching the pedal. It will drive normal for a few minutes then start doing this every time.

At first I thought it was the TPS but I have put 2 different ones in and it still happens. I checked voltages on the TPS and it would range from .5 at idle to 3.8 at full throttle (normal limits from what I have gathered). The ground to the TPS is also good.

My truck has also thrown 11 codes:

P0606 PCM fault

P0238 MAP voltage too high

P0123 TPS voltage too high

P0122 TPS voltage too low

P0118 Engine coolant temp sensor high

P0113 High voltage from intake air pressure

P0602 control module programming error/not programmed

P0380 glow plug/heater malfunction

P0382 same as 380

P0222 Voltage produced from TPS too low

P0121 TPS switch "A" circuit problem

The truck runs fine other than this issue except it was cold blooded so P0380 and P0382 make sense.

I spoke to a diesel shop and they said that they had a customer with the same exact truck with dead pedal/runaway issue and it ended up being the ECM.

My questions are,

1. Has anyone with a gen 2 had this issue before that can shine some light on the situation?

2. If it is a computer I am unsure of which one failed (ECM or PCM), I was thinking PCM due to code P0606 but after speaking to that diesel shop it sounded like ECM. Does anyone have any insight into this?

3. How exactly do I check the ECM and PCM with a multimeter? I have had trouble finding good videos or instruction that show me how to this so if anyone knows of any or has some of their own that would be a huge help.

4. If I do have to replace ECM or PCM does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced yet reliable source?

Thanks

You might want to have an administrator move this thread to the 2nd Gen page.

But since you're here I will give you my 2 cents (or whatever its worth now based on inflation)

From working on the VP44 trucks I would guess your problem lies in the ECM. There is a very slight possibility that the APPS is bad (this is the potentiometer above the pump that the throttle cable hooks to, not sure if you are calling it the TPS.)

Get on the Blue Chip Diesel page, their trouble shooting section is awesome. https://www.bluechipdiesel.com/
This is another good source for trouble shooting the VP44 https://mopar1973man.com/
