Dana 60HD vs Dana70

I have a 60 HD with 35 spline shafts, will it hold up to the torture a 70 will? What are the differences 60hd vs 70

I believe the only difference is the ring gear diameter. All bearings are the same as long as it isn't a 70HD.

My opinion is that it depends on use. For a DD i'm sure it would hold up fine, but for towing everyday and heavy, probably not for very long.

The three 60hd's I've had only had 30 spline shafts. Two were from mid to late 70's Dodge's the other a 91 D250 gasser. Seems like the axle shaft diameter was smaller as well, 1 1/4" vs. 1 1/2". Of course Dodge is diffrent and you can have two of the same rear ends, same year etc, but internally have something different about them.
