Cummins crew -need to fix cowl cracks
I just spent most of last week on Vacation.
I spent my vacation in my garage swapping my lifted '85 crew cab from a 360, 4 speed NP-205 set up to 12V Non I/Ced, Getrag, NP-205.
It went really smoothly, I reused the crew driveshafts, and even the V-8 wiring harness
I swapped out the NP-205 output yoke on the back to the smaller U-joint, to make the rear driveshaft work.
The swap was done by me and a friend in 72 hours without a single trip to the auto parts store!
It is up and running and has been out for a yard drive, but before I put the fenders on it I really want to fix the cowl cracks.
They are pretty bad on both sides, the 6 inch lift and 37 inch tires might not help...
I have read the Cowl fix in the sticky and any other posts I could find.
I sounded like the Dodge cowl patches are sold out, but several people mentioned wanting to start making them years ago.
Does any one have a source for them?
If not I guess I will just cut out some other "patches" from other cowls [I have a few shot cabs with rotten cab mounts / or roof rot that I could get them from] Those cowls are cracked as well, but I could weld them up before installing them.
Will I have any clearence issues with the fender with the added metal over my cowl?
I fiqured I could remove a fender washer to keep the fender to cab spacing right on.
Thanks!
