Question crew cab on a 93' club cab frame........can you do it?

I am wondering if you can put a crew cab & shortbox on an extended cab longbed frame?????? I think I have seen this done before. The crew cab floor boards have to be modified to clear the frame rails???? I am looking at doing this and want to know for sure if it can be done. Pics and discussion is what I am looking for. Thanks!!!

Yes it can

Thats what I did on mine. The rear floor section has to be modified or you could with a body lift.

pm me with your email address and I can send some pics of what I've done.

I'm in the same boat myself.
If was going to swapa section of my frame out for a section of the crew cab frame so I didn't have to modify the floor. I have a certified welder friend that would be doing this for me.
Pictures WOULD be great for me as well.

I didn't want to mess around with the integrity of the frame. The floor in the rear of the cab area is flat with a couple of channels to accomodate where the extended cab frame comes up. Others may disagree, but this is the route I chose.

I was trying to add pics here but for some reason I can't!!!

Use a hosting website to hold your photos and then insert the links to them.
I use photobucket
i also like imageshack but no need to have two to keep track of.

I have seen that done on Chevy`s, very similar setup and the same problem with the fram kicking up into the floor area. I`d just toss a body lift on it.

I just grafted a long bed frame to my CC frame under the cab. 2 ft inserts inside the frame rails with 4 grade 8 bolts on each side of the cut and then welded the rails together, just like they do on big rigs when they cut the frame. Strongest part of the frame now.

Featherman was kind enough to send me some pics.
You guys should SEE his truck, it's B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L !!!
The job he's done on the floor is a work of art, nevermind the body itself.

Any idea on how much body lift would be required if one did not want to modify the floor pans?

HA-HA..............Thanks for compliment Raggmann. I wish I could take all of the credit. I have talented friends plus its amazing what bedliner can cover up!!!!!!!

Ruralcruiser who's a member here will be helping with the power mods once I get a baseline for how the truck performs in stock mode. Although I have a pretty good idea on how they operate in stock form.

The only other minor modification that had to be done was to notch the rear of the crew cab to clear the sending unit on the fuel tank. We're talking minor.

Good luck on the project.

Featherman, I sent you a PM for the pics. I am wondering how much of a body lift a person has to achieve in order to clear the frame? Does anyone sell a crew cab Dodge body lift kit or do you have to create your own? I am planning to go with putting a crew cab and short box on my 93' club cab frame. This seems like a much easier mod to do than stretching frames, swapping running gear, and extending components. I would love to see more pics of folks who have done this mod. Thanks for the feedback!

Hey FGF.................pics sent. As far as lift kits go, I'm guessing you would need at least a 4 inch body lift, maybe even 6 inches. I was looking at the ramcharger body lift kits, never finished my research to see what was available.

That is WAY to much for a body lift. Have you ever seen a pickup with a 3" body lift take a hard corner or going down the road with a side wind. It looks like the body is going to fall off. IMO it not safe either. You're creating extra torque on the bolts holding the body to the frame.
