crazy amounts of oil flying out of my buddies trucks exaughst??

oil is coming out of my friends new 1990 cummins and i belive its the turbo, checked turbo shaft play and it feels like new, but what do you guys think it is? and it poors a crazy amount of gray blackish smoke out and idles really ruff.

Our 6.5TD did the exact same thing. the Seal in the center section of the turbo was bad and was dumping turbo directly into the exhaust....the MUFFLER still leaks oil to this day.

Take you finger and take a swipe of the inside of the exhuast pipe and see if its all oily....its probably just the turbo.

It runs good otherwise right ??

yea thats what i was thinking should we clean out the intake and all that.

it does idle like bad real low and ruff.

Check the turbo drain tube first, but it sounds like it's time for a fresher turbo.

No need to clean out the intake unless it's full of oil too.

Idle speed is probably just set too low.

Like Dave said. If you have RAW oil coming out of the exhaust side, seals bad. If its not dripping out of the ext. side its coming in from the intake side.

this is deffently raw oil flying out of the exuaghst.

Seals out on the EXHAUST side not the intake side. Don't worry about getting your finger greasy checking the intake side..;)
