A Country Cummins - Build Thread
well I just cant win. ever since I bought the truck my driveline was always angled at the U joint by the carrier bearing. never questioned it much at the time. until this episode. so the shop that installed my transmission must not have tightened all the bolts on the crossmember. as the passenger side all came lose and now its hanging down. which made my driveline angle just a little bit more at the u joint and hit my gas tank puncturing a hole in it.... So I redrilled the holes in the carrier bearing mount and moved it all over about an inch so now the driveline goes straight down the truck. I patched the hole in the tank, and now I just need to go get 5 nuts and bolts to bolt the crosssmember back to the frame. and then fill it back up with diesel since I lost about 50 bucks worth of fuel... I just cant win I tell ya. trucks cursed. on top of that it has another bad oil leak.
I also feel like my trans is running way to hot in OD. cruising down the freeway in OD at 70mph I can easily see temps at 260 degrees. even with my probe being in the hot line, this seems way to hot to me. specially when I was pulling a hill in 3rd at 55 and only seeing 160 degrees. cruising in 3rd at 55 I can see temps as low as 140 on the hot line. any input on that?
other than those little twerks, trucks been running pretty good. picked up a better set of 35's I need to get mounted up. Couple random pictures.

have most the kinks finally worked out, but theres still a couple aggravating me enough to put me on the verge of selling the thing. But I've got an idea and a plan, and possibly a nice new huge shop. if it works out... something cool in the works soooon.

Man, hang on............. The line should be a chip shot for many members here, if not, Redlinear can hook you up. If you need it right now, Cummins can sell you one, but it will be nigher. In a pinch, just cut out the tab and use a piece of fuel line with clamps for a temporary fix, fuel pressures aren't high enough to worry about.
Try Cummins #3925860.
If that is the right number, $67 2 yrs ago.
I personally wouldn't sell the truck over that kind of money. With the help of this forum and a couple others, these rigs are really very simple to keep running.

Thanks for the replys guys. im not going to sell the truck over the fuel line. i listed it for sale before i had any idea what actually happened. i just saw a load of fluid on the ground, truck wouldnt start, and i was mad lol. Once i finally dug in and realized it was a small issue, i had a change of heart.
that blows my mind they might have it in stock though. i havent even looked yet, i just planned on making a new one from scratch. i'll give my dealer a call and see what my cost is and if its worth it or not.
Trans seems to be running better and better the more i drive it. it hardly ever breaks 220 now. and i havent done anything to it other than keep driving it. but i notice my transfer case seems to start to slip out of gear once in awhile. so i think thats causing most of my problems. probably time to get it rebuilt. its leaking fluids anyway.
and im hard as hell on everything i drive. i buy em for a reason and thats to use them. someday i'll have this thing indestructable lol

Captain Destructo, I'm in the oil business so your lead foot is good for business
Also having a lead foot keeps you fresh on your mechanical skills LoL When you get about 40 you'll get tired of wrenching and waisting money and start to lighten up on the go go pedal. We all been there done that

The sad part, is my foot isnt that heavy. and everytime ive broke my truck, its been under normal driving conditions lol.
but on the bright side. my local cummins dealer had that dang hose in stock! $72 bucks. So i'll jet down there tomorrow and pick it up i guess.

So maybe it wasn't a fluke when my local dealer had it on the shelf, eh?
