Correct way to Dyno?
 

After having dyno'd for the first time recently i was wondering if there was a better or worse way to do this. We ran on a dynojet, he said the rollers were about 4000lbs so that was all the load i could get. the dyno started reading at 1200rpm from what he told me. all the runs i did were reving to 1500rpm holding until he gave me the go ahead then flooring it. torque seemed to peak right around 2200rpm give or take a little... just wondering since i've never done this before...

The exact method varies slight from dyno to dyno. Most dynojet's are inertia dyno's and I don't think they are very accurate for a diesel. I prefer chassis load dyno's, most Mustang dyno's are load type. The rollers on a inertia dyno are not really heavy enough to put a load on a diesel. You also need to have a way to hook up a tach from the dyno to the engine to get real torque numbers. I also prefer to dyno in a 1:1 gear, it makes setting up the dyno easier.
