Clutch problem, advice please...

93 4x4 with light fueling and air mods. On the rag... other day in 5th I laid the pedal down and she took off and suddenly slipped the clutch a little, never happened before. Everything felt done after that until I was at work yesterday a little aggravated and threw it in reverse and took off a little aggressively. Now the clutch doesn't engage until the pedal is near top of its travel, literally right when my foot comes off it... what's going on here? The master is full, slave showers to be functioning correctly. Could my clutch have taken a crap that quickly? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

-Jesse

Generally when the clutch starts to go you get a slipping when you push the throttle down and really notice when pulling a grade with a load. It should grab when the pedal is coming off at the bottom. Sounds as though you might be needing a replacement soon.

Clutches wear. If you're in the habit if starting out in second, or slipping the clutch at every shift, It'll wear quite rapidly.

Your's is worn.

You might have smeared a side or part of a side clean off the disc. If that is the case, it is doing a number on the pressure plate. ...Mark

5th gear is really the worst gear to just lay into the throttle hard especially from low rpms.

Depending on what you want to do with your truck, tow heavy, tow light, race, ect. They have designs that will work on all kinds of apps. Installing yourself or having a shop do it. I have a South Bend clutch which works great for me others have used different brands. The websites of the manufactures have all the details of what the different applications can do.

No towing, just my work truck/ hot rod lol. Maybe just a simple clutch made to hold 350hp to be safe
