clock spring
clock spring
When centering the clock spring how many turns can i expect before i start to feel resistance to where i should stop.
I got an extra steering collum and clock spring (used) when i bought the truck. I figured i would try to use the used clock spring instead of buying new$$.

The fsm, I believe, states 2.5 turns from either side...im not with the book yet so someone chime in if im wrong. I just put mine in and YAY! I have cruise....weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....me happy.
alright then my used one is busted too. I guess i am heading to the junk yard. Anyone know what year and other cars i can pull one from? I believe i read someone pulling one from a 90's chrysler minivan??
Centering procedure- gently turn the center clockwise until it stops, then turn it back 2.5 turns.

got one out of a Dakota today for 12 bucks. It did not fix my problem though
(plastic on plastic sound in the collum and no cruise). but the old clock spring did not sound good when i shook it so i guess 12 bucks was not a waste.
