cleaning melted piston from turbo
 

hey guys i was wondering if there was such a solution to cleaning the melted piston material out of my turbine housing. when my piston melted it push molten piston material all through my exhaust manifold and thinnly coated the in side of the turbine housing[verymad] , it suprisingly did not ruin the turbine blades[coffee] and the turbine blades still spin freely without any catching, but the turbine was a brand new 12cm non wastegated turbine housing and i want to keep if possible. so does anyone know of a chemical than cleans whatever the piston is made, off cast iron???

we used to use muratic acid to clean aluminum out of 2 stroke jugs.

Many, many years ago in a past life, I used to work for Holset. We used to clean the returned turbine wheels and housings with a caustic solution. The turbine wheel is made of Inconel and the turbine housing is made of ductile iron which are not easily attacked by the caustic, but it dissolves the aluminum. Don't let it contact the low alloy steel shaft.
