Cleaning the HVAC box, with a TWIST

First I used a hole saw (sized to fit the Deck Plate) to gain access to this mess...:o

Then I mounted a 4 inch Screw-Out Deck Plate by Beckson so I can simply unscrew it to clean it out from now on, I have lots of pine needles round here. [laugh]

I plan on replacing the screws with some black ones, they just didn't have the right type in stock so I used these zink ones I had laying around temporarily.

Great idea. I have 2 questions both related to drilling depth. Did you use a pilot bit and if so how did you control the depth on it and the actual hole saw.
I am thinking a hose clamp for the holesaw but that won't control the pilot bit.
Thanks

Thanks guys.

I used a hole saw kit from harbor freight, the pilot bit only sticks out about 1/2 an inch ahead of the saw. I also did it to the far right side as it is the deepest part. Went slow and stopped as soon as it went through (I actually stopped too soon the first time and had to reengage the saw). To be honest it was not even close to the core, after just going through the plastic with the saw part. There is actually quite a depth between the core and the housing, hence why it can hold all that crap. [laugh]
