Charge question

I'm installing a command start this weekend. I was going to hook my ignition (+12V) into the fuel shut off solenoid. Then tap into the starter solenoid wire to make it start. I figure this would be the simplest route to make it run. My question is: If the motor is running, does the alternator charge automatically? Or do I need to wire something to the computer to tell it to charge?

Truck is a 1992 W250 diesel (obviously!), all stock as far as the electrical goes (to my knowledge).

Thanks in advance guys!

It'll charge just fine. The blue wire on the shutoff solenoid goes to a splice that also feeds the PCM.

You will get ABS and brake warning lights on the dash when it's running this way with the key off. The lights will go out when you turn the key on.
