Changing out dashboard

My dash is getting some cracks in it. Anyone ever tackled changing out one? I haven't looked anywhere for another one yet. Any ideas about where to find one?

Junkyard. The real PITA is that the windshield has to come out to remove the dash. I've got a ramcharger with the LE package that's MINT, but no experience with glass, and no desire to learn in the middle of winter...

If the windshield has to come out, then I will look for a dash and have it done. I don't even want to tackle that.

The dash itself isn't all that bad...it's the dang windshield. I didn't worry about it so much since it needed a new window anyway, but I did try getting it out without breaking it and that didn't work so well. If you look at the window seal from the outside, there's a rubber o-ring type deal that runs all the way around the window. Pop that out and then the edge kinda folds out and you kinda pry on that and the window at the same time. I suppose with time it can be done. I tried, got a little crack, tried a little more, crack grew, so I sat in the seat and pushed on the window with my feet and it came right out! Lol! That's the hard part. The rest is pretty easy and straightforward. Afterwards I duct taped the window down and took the back roads to the glass shop driving really slow and hoping I wasn't spotted by the police. If you go for it, good luck!

i put a 90 dash in my 77 ramcharger you dont have to take the window out you can find to bolts under the window rubber strip in the inside and just notch it around the bolt head and undo the bolts not to noticable

I wanted to remove my dash to give it a nice coat of paint. By the looks of it, it doesn't look that hard and doesn't look like the windsheild has to come out. But I don't actually have a clue or real experience with it. I guess I'll paint it while the body shop has the windsheild out.

Take a pice of wire and work it into the window than take it all the way around braking the seal. It's not easy but it has worked on other windows for me.

And work some murphy's oil soap in there with the wire while you are at it. I have also seen fellows use WD-40. The gasket has to be able to slide. Oh, to be clear, you are taking the glass out of the rubber gasket, NOT the glass & gasket out of the truck.
