carrier bearing issue?
1993 w250. Has a 2wd getrag in it. I know dumb. Tranny was free. Anyways. I have been getting a grinding noise in 4th and 5th only under slight load or when i let off also with clutch pushed in. Narrowed it down to what i thought was carrier bearing (using the drive shaft out of the 2wd drive truck). Put in a brand new carrier bearing. Wala noise is gone. Less then 100 miles later the noise is back. Now taken it was a cheapo part. It should last more then a day in half? One thing i did notice the bearing and rubber had a bit of a angle to it before i put in truck almost as if to straighten driveshaft? Any ideas? Or shouldbi not cheap out on it next time.

I put the cheapo carrier bearing in and it lasted about a year. Eventually, after replacing it twice, I bought one from dodge. No issue since.
There is a TSB on dropping the carrier bearing down about 1/2 " or so, but I thought that was for the 4wd units, but I could be wrong. Caused a bad vibration, or something. You can use a bunch of washers as spacers should the need arise.

It is the 2wd drive shaft so it is at a bit of a angle also noticed tonight in could see a little bit of the blue on the splines. Theres also some play. I may try and drop the shaft down some. May help with the angle and maybe push the shaft in some more?
