Carnage!!!!

So today I decided to go out and have a little fun in the snow. We got a foot of wet heavy stuff last week. Anywho after a week of temps in the mid to upper 30s it had gotten a crust on it and was a to get through. Well I got hung up in a drift(I didn't carry enough speed through it) so after a bit af spinnin and sawin on the wheel I decided to throw the chains on, But that didn't help with open diffs. So I tryed to torque lock everything up by applying a little brake pressure. That was a bad move with 700ft lbs of torque. I could feel all 4 start to bite then all of a sudden BANG!!!!, I heard something come unglued up front. I ended up exploding the Double cardin, I spose the little 3R could have went 1st but its hard to tell.

Anyway its all patched up now as I always have a spare shaft ready to go.

After all those hooks, a little snow takes it out. But good to hear all is well and everything is good.

This is why I leave the playing to the kids and my rig is for work only. Hope you can find a replacement soon.

That is where a winch is worth it's weight in platinum. I also carry a highlift jack to help with traction, but I guess a spare shaft is good too......Mark

Due to lack of power or ability to get that far to begin with?

Looks like an auto parts store might be a bit of a walk from where you were at. Also, a AAA towing membership wouldn't make it to you there. Nice having the part with you that breaks when in a snowy field. I am getting cold just thinking about laying on that snow wrenching on the truck!

93flatbed, Iwas kinda suprised that the snow did it in too. I should have broke when I had 40-50,000lbs of sled behind and I was hoppin about a foot off the ground.

hounddog, Not yet, I would love to have a pair of ARBs in it, maybe next tax season.

Maybe, winches cost lots of money for a good one.

Cougar, the angle really isn't that bad on the cardin end, although I am thinkin about doin a simple 2 joint shaft in the near future with 1410s

sootnsmoke, The spare shaft was actually sittin on the front porch back at the house. I was only a little over 3 miles from the house so I could have walked out and still not been late for supper. It was a bit nippy, single digit temps with some wind.

That's when you cracked it. The snow just finished the job.
