Cab removal + Lift?
Cab removal + Lift?
Hey all, I have a 10,000lb lift in my garage. I really want to go through my truck this summer when the snow goes away. How do people do this? I was thinking about putting all four arms with a 2x4 to hold the cab as I lift it out of there.
I would like the seal the frame and paint the old motor. With the CAB off it also gives me the best possible access to check all the wiring in the truck and replace it.

First make sure your lift arms lock into position when they leave the floor.
What I do is I lay flat pieces of 2x4 on the lift where the arms meet the cab corners. I pick the cab off by lifting from under the cab corners. In some cases I have used a piece of 4x4 and go behind the rocker panel at the front end of the cab. I leave enough of room between the lift arms so i can get a pallet in place on the floor below the cab. Then I roll the chassis out and pull in under it with a proper sized pallet and forklift and remove the cab from the lift.
