Brought her home....what to do?

Finally had the tractor up to my dad's to snag the engine out of my former truck-89w250. Sadly, I had to userp the head for my current pile of junk. But, I've seen heads and pumps going relatively cheap lately, and I've got this hx35 just hangin out doing nothing now....I'm thinking ramcharger, or there's a 80's crew/short/440/4x4 for sale not too far from here....anyhoo, she's safe and sound now awaiting teardown

mmmmmm, rusty junk That's my favorite! I've already got an m38a1. The old Iron Duke is about as fast as I wanna go in a jeep For now, it's just a good conversation piece in the shop. Never tore one down before, so kind of looking forward to the experience

A RamCharger is a good place for it, but I am biased.
If you've ever been into a 6 cylinder bottom end, you won't be TOO amazed with the Cummins, it's really pretty generic as far as engines go.
The lifters remind me of overgrown Briggs&Stratton lifters.

The area to dissect, if you had one, is the injection pump.
All those little pieces that have to fit just so, plus the possibilty of shooting parts across the garage (or yard), it's just IRRESISTABLE to want to take it apart!

Mark.

Yeah, I've dis-assembled a few ve's...pretty cool stuff. The engine ran great when pulled, but was still pressurizing the radiator, despite fresh head and gasket. Gonna get the block cleaned and checked and replace the heat exchanger by the oil filter. Throw bearings and seals at it at find something cool to toss it in

I think it would look real cool in the bed of my truck! LOL
I've been getting an itch to find an engine and put it up on a stand and go crazy, Just waiting for the right deal I guess?
Good luck with the build

I had an idea earlier, sticking an engine in the bed of the truck and bolt a 727 and drive the front axle with the rear mounted engine and visa-versa.

Oddly, I think that could work, except that I'm not sure that the direction that the front driveshaft rotates would be right.
Imagine hearing this statement:
"I have a Cummins powered Dodge with dual twin turboed Cummins..."

They'd look at you like you were a frog from Mars!

yeah but wouldn't be able to catch you.

Yes exactly, thats why you need to flip the front axle over, maybe use a driverside drop and flip it so it would work right.

Hehe, cool ideas! I'm looking more for a semi bolt-in project, ala something 1st gen, though if a 99+ super dookie crew cab were to present itself....

it would be hard to match drive shaft speeds from one engine and trans to the other engine and trans. sot saying its impossible but it would take alot of math and some very matched torque convertors.

Search you tube for twin engine hyundai/audi/mitsubishi and even chevy's performance section made one with a beretta. Many of those are fwd units welded into the rear of the car. PRetty cool stuff. From what i understand unless your trying to do a doughnut (one if forward one in reverse) they just help eachother out rather than hindering one another. Another cool thing is the handling ability of the vehicle in all weather conditions because all wheels are driving and have almost equal weight distribution

I remembered how much of a pain it was to find those videos, i have a few saved and you can watch if u'd like
twin engine lancer burnout
Twin engine tiburon
Another twin engine
Top Gear audi two engine tt
