Brakes Annoy Me...
Since I can remember... This old truck has never had GOOD working brakes. For a long period of time she's been run with next to no pedal at all and got to the point where it was just plain dangerous, ESPECIALLY on icy roads. Keep in mind it was already on it's 2nd master cylinder in the run of 9 months.
With an MVI coming up I said the hell with it and took it to my uncles tranny shop and told them to fix the brakes regardless of the cost. So after some labour, which they let me help with, a new master cylinder was put on and the ABS valve was bypassed. Considering there was nothing else left to replace they did what they could. Once they were bled I had alot of pedal and great brakes for the first time in quite some time. With a big grin on my face I drove off.
NOW... Today, two days later, I'm driving along and I go to press the pedal and it goes soft. I took a deep breath and figured exactly what it was and sure enough, the back of the cylinder was leaking. Since I still haven't used up my year warrenty I'll go try one more cylinder and if it decides to blow again... I'm throwing this one across the dooryard and going to Chrysler.
You do need to realize these are remanufatured cylinders but geez... you'd think ONE would last AT LEAST a week. For 65 bucks it should last longer than it has but who am I to judge, I guess.
Needless to say I was mad...
If any of you have had similar troubles, by all means, enlighten me. I'm up for any solutions and/or ideas.

I had a remanufactured one that only lasted a week as well...
So I put on a brand new one and now my pedal is already going soft... The master cylinder's fine, I got some little air leak someplace or something...
I have enough money in my brakes to have put my truck into the 16's...

I'm hoping the floorboards will hurry up and rot out so I can stop via the Fred Flintstone method! Dodge brakes are marginal at best. I do a lot of planning ahead when I drive in traffic...
Jeez, mine are great! New booster and master, recent shoes, and fresh self-adjusters. The fresh booster made the biggest difference.
The stinkin' things even self-adjust now (I doubt that will last much longer

heck.
my brakes are awsome. 100,000 miles sence new shoes in the rear, and pads up front. had to give thr rotors a good turn though. she stops hard and fast!
sorry to about your brakes.

).WHat he said. my brakes work great, even better with 1 ton rear slaves
Anybody wanna start the bad brakes club?? I could definitly join that one. Mine suck, and always have. New master cylinder, many new steel lines put in. I still have to pump the pedal to stop the truck, and i have bled the brakes a million times. The truck is downright scary in traffic and tends to creep forward on unsuspecting rice rockets at a stoplight

My advice to anyone doing a brake job on one of these truck's is to put in the 1 ton wheel cyl. while your in there.I'm sorry to hear about your problem with your brakes, but if you get it figured out and install the 1 ton cyl's. you'll really be
