Ok thanks guys. The springs I am having hell with are the short stubby one's that connect to the small nail looking wire. I don't see how any of those tools will work. I have never seen them used. Thanks agains. I guess I will go buy some bandaids, and go try again.

Got stock in Bandaids on this brake job!

Good plan [laugh] The older I get the less I need bandaids.

Jawco #1349 Heavy Duty Brake Spring Hook Tool. They have them on Fleabay for less than 20 bucks. They are made in USA too!

^^^ that be the good one.

As clutsy as I am, I have developed an easy way to get everything in place.
1. Put rear shoe in place, clamped at the middle grease pad with a vice grip welding C clamp.
2. Put front shoe in place with the adjuster, clamped as above.
3. Install hold down springs with Jawco tool, a flick of the wrist.
4. Install the return and adjuster springs.
5. Remove the Welding clamps.
6. Install the parking brake cable.

Aww man why you a raining on me parade? Paid $27 to the snap on dude... Just kidding LOL! I didn't care...needed a specialty tool that would snap 'em in quick, meaning less time on my knees ticked off fighting them things. Been wanting that tool for awhile now

I haven't fooled with mine yet but I figure I might as well be prepared when I do.

On your knees? I have an old rectangle shaped milk crate. It has three different height sides perfect for sitting or as a short table for working under the truck.

Can't beat those welding clamps. even if you don't weld they are very useful.
