brake bombs

Ive noticed lately that a lot of people are doing the brakes on their trucks. I dont know if this has been posted on here and I just missed it, but the best thing that I have done to my truck as of yet is the 1 ton chevy rear wheel cyl. swap. It cost me about 19 dollars to do, and my brakes have never worked like they do now. Instead of the front end pushing down when braking hard, the whole truck pulles towards the ground. I would recamend this bomb to anybody doing rear brakes on any cummins with rear drums. Just ask for rear wheel cyl's. for a 78 1 ton chevy and they will bolt right in.Your truck will finally stop the way it is supposed to.

I need to spend some time on my brakes...

Between my darn ABS light malfunction whatever, front discs in need of grinding, crappy rear brakes and mirrors that don't work I almost got into an accident a few days ago...

Oh ya, I do understand that. These brakes on our dodges are not the best in the world. My nephew came over this weekend and put the 1 ton cyl's. on my nieces v-10 and she never had brakes like she has now. another happy dodge owner.

Will the swap work on 250 or the 350 or both?

I believe that they will work for both, W250 & W350 models. I know that they work for the W250 model as some people were going to the Dodge 1 ton setup (larger wheel cylinder 1 1/8 & pads) but instead are now going the Chevy ones. You can still use the same size Drum as they should not need to be changed, unless they are ground down rather well

Just wondering if the small wheel cylinder problem affects the 350 dually as well or is it only a SRW issue?

That I do not know. I would assume yes but I really don't know. Larger brakes could only be better, but once again, assuming.

The GM wheel cylinder is larger than the dodge 1 ton. Here I go assuming but all 1-tons should have the larger dodge sheel cylinder, as the should have the 3in wide shoes also.

From what I understand from other folks that have done this swap, The duallies have also benifitted from this swap. so I am assuming that the chevy cyl's. are bigger than the dodge.

OK thanks, I will remember to get them and try them out on my dually. My brakes feel good but they just are no match for the weight of the truck. It takes a lot more pedal pressure then my Ford 1 ton with a similar load.
