black goo in turbo compressor??????
A buddy of mine has a he351ve and we took the compressor housing off to inspect it and its covered in a film of like sticky black goo. Its almost like rubberized undercoating all over the compressor housing and compressor wheel. what could this be?
IDK if the newer Cummins have an EGR, or where it re-enters, but EGR can REALLY goo up an intake in a diesel for sure. Seen it in my old Mercedes and many TDI's.
Maybe they suck the crankcase vent into the inlet? Or a seal was leaking oil into the compressor and it goo'd up with the heat of compression.

It probably won't be in the intake tube. It takes pressure to make pressure. Typically drive pressure is higher than boost. If there is an oil seal leak it could travel to the compressor side and goo up the works. However after saying that I would think that the deposit on the compressor wheel woud be wet oil and carbon.
