BHAF....ideas???
BHAF....ideas???
im looking into doing an air filter right now but am running short on ideas. i wanted to get a k&n universal type filter a silicone hose coupler and mount the filter right to the compressor. easier said then done. there are tons of choices of filters to chose from, i was looking at one of their angled ones so it would clear the alternator. and i'd like to get rid of the factory type filter so im not replacing it, i'd like the k&n so i can just clean it
i would appreciate any ideas, part #'s, etc.
thanks david

info in the sticky on making a BHAF.
DO NOT put a filter right on the turbo, the heat off the engine/exh. manifold and heat off the turbo will go right back into it...
you need to seal the filter from the engine bay as much as possible,
or you could buy a Icebox cold air intake made for a first gen.
very pricey, id never buy one http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/s...hp?id=371&=SID

If i were you I would get a S&B universal air filter over The k&N.. Here is a pic of mine.. I need to make a few up "minus the paint" and sell them... Seems like everybody wants to ditch the factory box..

i think i will try and work on a box myself. i like what bc847 did, the stock pot one and drilled out some holes around near the headlight, but thanks for the tips, and DNRcustoms you always have awsome stuff for your truck! wish mine looked that sharp

I love dnrcustoms setup but i'd put a plate going down from the fender to the wheel well (like a bhaf plate) trying to sheild the filter from the intercooler pipes (hot side).
not that it would make a difference anyway. lol

Ya I want to make one that is more of a box syle and then try to make a scoop to ram air into it.. But mine will work for now.. I'm planning on a different turbo setup in the near future.. So didn't want to waste to much time if it would be different.. thanks for the compliments
haha thanks for all the input! i will probably try and fab something up like the stock pot filter, maybe find a way to get a scoop under the front of the truck a little more, i dont know yet though haha still thinking of ideas
