Best place to buy a VE first gen pump

Mine is going bad, got to get another, see lots of places on line, seems to be in the 900-1300 range? Advice on this? Oliver had one, missed getting it, got to save up the lettuce for this one.

Here's where I got mine several years ago. Price has gone up a lot though. YMMV.

OUCH! The performance pump I got from Scheid a couple years ago was only $1200, and I thought that was high then.

I got my pump 5 or 6 years ago. It was $750.00 plus a $500 core. I've had no problems with it other than the overpressure lift pump pushing out the front seal which was relatively easy to fix on the pump. The pump came locked at TDC so it was easy to get the timing right. The seal was NOT a problem with the inj pump. It was the lift pump putting out 40 psi which pushed out the seal and put 5 gallons of diesel fuel into the crankcase. The injection pump is designed to only have under 15 psi pressure at the inlet.

If I remember correctly, Cummins provides a good warranty on their rebuilt pumps. The relevant pages from the Cummins parts catalog are attached below.

The Cummins units are probably too expensive but it may be worth a phone call to your local Cummins dealer just to learn what is the maximum price you should be considering. Have your engine serial number available when you phone them.
