Best injectors and mild turbo upgrade for towing 93 1st gen
 

I'm looking for the best injectors and and turbo upgrade for doing some heavy towing for my 93 dodge just seeing what everyones thoughts are

Check my signature on my 91. Works good for towing. About the only thing to add is a 4" exhaust.

hey coug, Are you satisfied with your 16cm/60? do you ever wish you went to a 14cm or 12cm? Im in the same boat and want to rebuild my 250,000 mile h1c w/the gds60compressor. I havent decided on a turbine housing yet. I do Quite a bit of towing so I have been leaning towards the 12cm, just for quicker spoolup reasons. How hot do you run towing w/ 16cm? I have a 5spd also. Sorry for the hijack.

Very happy with it. It seems to be a good overall combination with the +40hp injectors and M2 pin. With the pump adjustments I have (not maxed out), I have almost no noticeable turbo lag with the 16 also. And not an out of control amount of smoke. A smaller turbo may spool faster but my concern was the increased restriction on the stock exhaust would drive EGTs up too much. A 4" exhaust may allow a 14cm housing to run in the same EGT range, but I don't know for sure.

what part # are the + 40 HP Bosch injectors?

What kind of mileage do you get cougar with that set up. I am looking at a similar upgrade but need to keep my 19+ mpg. A little more power would be good but need mileage more.

Hmmm, I think im just gonna copy cougar with my mods, sounds like a good combo while towing. Hpefully the old clutch will hold when I start addin the juice.

i wouldnt be afraid to use a 12cm exhaust housing on a standard shift truck. the getrag is a slow shifter anyway so quick spooling is a good thing to have because youre going to lose your boost.

Jbrad- You ever get scared w/egts with your 12cm? I dont want to drive watching the pyro gauge while towing up steep mountain passes in 100 dg heat. Within the next two months Ill be upgrading. 4'' exhaust,and a call to GDS For 60mm comp housing and a new 12-16 turbine housing. I want to move air first,then call m and h for a fuel pin and timing spacer. possibly down the road, injectors and a piston pump. Oh ya, a 366 spring will definatley find a new home in there also.

I don't worry, my truck runs cool most all of the time I'm not leaking boost. I don't think comparing a 62mm s300 and a 56mm h1c is apples to apples though.

How are the POD injectors

The injector part number is 0 432 131 837. Got them from a place called Electronic Injection on Ebay.
So far, none of my mods have decreased my fuel mileage. I still get 18 in the winter and 20-21 summer.
I have a stock clutch and have no problems with it holding the power even with a trailer.

PODs would probably get a little hot when towing. I'd look at the Bosch 190s. In my 1992 I had the older Bosch 185s, and along with a PDR HX-35/40 hybrid turbo (16 cm housing) and basic pump tweaks, I couldn't get EGT over 1250 when hauling about 2000 lbs. in the bed. That truck was an auto, so quick spoolup wasn't as important.

If you wanna stay cheap, a set of PODs and an He351 turbo(stock turbo off 04.5-07 dodge) would do the job great, and some minor pump tweaking. I think it'd stay cool just fine and have plenty of power.
