Back up and running and a lot of thanks!!!

Well after having a inner timing case bolt thoroughly ground my truck for a few months I'm driving and smiling again.
If you saw my last thread "getting frustrated" you can see some pics that caused all the grief.
As I don't know anyone around where I live that has a gen 1 (not any more) I posted a thread asking for some help, big time!!!
One of the members here that lives by me answered my pleas for help and gave me his time, his knowledge and a whole bunch of education in reference to the 5.9.
He helped me take off my damaged timing gear, and get the crushed locating pin out. Then get the new gear on and button up the front end.
Next it was time to take off the head and replace the head gasket and then reassemble it. He did my valves and the re torque and set up my fuel pump after I rebuilt it.
I have found this forum to be a life saver when I need help or to ask a question.
Other forums I drop in one are not even close to the quality of DTR and the members.
This member did all this work and would take NO money from me. Being in a bind over the winter with cash left me with a broken truck for 3 months. I supplied lots of beer and home cooking and made sure to leave a case of Bud behind his seat when I could.
I like to think I made and excellent new friend and with the age difference between us he has proven that all the younger generation to me are not lost in what ever world most of them live in.
NoSparkplugs told me that he believes that this forum is for helping each other out when another member needs it. That is his ideal of how things should happen here. This was done for him and he did it for me and I intend to pass the favor along when it presents itself.
I would like to acknowledge this member to all here on this forum and give him the thanks he both has earned and deserves. I was taught during my military career that a good leader gives credit when credit is due.
Luke most definitely gets a 10 out of 10 in my eyes.
I further would like to add my thanks to the rest of you all that answered my questions and bared with me through some very frustrating times.
I can't for the life of me remember back over the 30+ years of wrenching that a site such as this could yield so much information and have a quality group of like minded people from all the corners they reside in.
Please forgive my long winded thread here but I profoundly felt that this was overdue for me to write down for all to read.

This is where I found out from the sticky that I was missing the crush washer, the protective cap and the retainer from my fuel pin that someone else had neglected to put back into the fuel pump.

Pete

I haven't seen one of those heads in awhile. You're going to have to post some pics of the entire truck.

Looks like a pretty clean truck. If you want another VE head let me know I have a spare head that's in decent shape.

Your welcome Pete, I'm glad I could give another DTR member (or anyone for that matter) a hand in a time of need. Not only did we get Pete's 1st gen running right, his fuel economy went up as well. The food, beer and hospitality that I got from Pete was more than enough for payment, this guy knows how to cook an amazing meal. I'm gonna have to learn some of his secrets.

On a side note, Pete's 1st gen absolutely RIPS! I'm starting to think the previous owner installed a set of injectors because his truck pulls a ton harder than my 93' that has similar mods done. With more air to keep the EGTs under control, this thing will be a monster
